More truth from THE TRUTH?

Further to their recent revelations, THE TRUTH has published more images of prototype self-propelled artillery based on the FT-17 chassis.

The first picture shows one of the previously featured prototypes, but this time the photograph has been taken from the side of the vehicle.

The second prototype is different from those already featured in that the armament is reputed to be a 149mm howitzer. The latter has been fitted with an armoured shield that offers some protection to the crew.

It is worth noting that none of these designs allow the armament to traverse more than a few degrees, and that half the designs have armament that faces towards the rear of the chassis. These designs give the artillery mobility, but not the ability to be used offensively.

Maybe the idea is that the recoil caused by firing the gun will make the vehicle go faster?

It's an idea we have been exploring over at KRAPP Heavy Industries.

  3. I can't imagine hopping over foot pedals and steering roads holding a live shell is a lot of fun. Life as a mbile artilleryman must be eventful and short. :-S

  4. It could not have been much fun to drive either, with a great metal breech block just inches from the back of your head! Going over a bump would have been downright dangerous.

    All the best,

  5. For centuries guns were towed, facing backward: for conservative minds, having the gun carried by the tractor rather than trailing behind may already be 'progressive' enough? Let us avoid rashness, when it comes to changing proven practices!
And respectable artillery will still look quite different from those new fancy 'tanks', during parades...
